Mark Benning

Mark lives in Edmonton, Canada. He is the Founder and Managing Partner for Excelsior.vc and the CEO of Founderly.co. Previously, he founded and led Sprout Fund and Sprout Fund II.

Mark is also a consultant with the BDC, Canada's bank for entrepreneurs. Before that, he founded and led four investor-backed software companies in Silicon Valley, California over 20 years. 

He has an MBA from Stanford University focused on venture investing and entrepreneurial leadership and an AB in Economics from Harvard University. Mark also studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame for two years.

Between Harvard and Stanford, Mark played professional hockey in Europe and traveled extensively throughout the world.

Mark now enjoys investing in innovative startups and helping founders grow and fund their companies.
